Head: Ch 16
Row 1: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: 1 sc in each st across, ch 1, turn. Repeat 2nd row 18 times more – 20 rows altogether. At end of row 20, do not ch 1, but turn.
Neck; Row 21: Sl st in first 5 sts, ch 1, sc in next 5 sts, ch 4, turn.
Body: Row 22: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next 2 ch, 1 sc in 5 sc across, ch 4, turn
Row 23: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next 2 ch, sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn
Row 24: 1 sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn. repeat row 24 8 times more; end off. Make another piece the same.
Legs: Ch 7.
Row 1: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, ch 1, turn
Row 2: 1 sc in each st across, ch 1, turn. Repeat row 2 10 times more; end off. Make 3 more leg pieces the same.
Arms: Ch 5
Row 1: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, ch 1, turn.
Row 2: 1 sc in each st across, ch 1, turn. Repeat row 2 11 times more; end off. Make 3 more arm pieces the same.
Finishing: Cut two square eyes, two round ears and one nose from brown felt. Cut tongue from red felt. Sew eyes, nose and tongue in place. Embroider mouth with brown thread. Sew ears to top corners of head on wrong side. Using rug yarn and large-eyed needle, sew two arm pieces together for each arm, leaving one end open. Stuff arms firmly. Sew leg pieces together in same way and stuff.









Pin legs and arms to wrong side of front body pieces in positions shown. Place body pieces together and sew around edge, catching in arms and legs. Leave top portion open. Stuff body, then sew shoulders and neck. Sew head pieces together, catching in ears, stuffing as you go. Tie a gay ribbon around your new bear’s neck.
