Crochet a Flower Purse to Match the Poncho


Materials
4 ply knitting worsted weight yarn in poncho MC and flower colors
Size H crochet hook or size to give gauge.

Gauge: 4 sts to 1″; 2 rnds to 1″

Ch 12 to measure 4″.
Rnd 1: DC in 4th ch from hook, 5 more dc in same ch (7 dc counting ch-3 as 1 dc), dc in each of next 7 ch, 7 dc in last ch. Working on other side of foundation ch, work dc in each of 7 ch. Join with a si st to top of ch-3 (28 dc).
Note: All rnds are worked from right side through BACK LPS only.
Rnd 2:
Ch 3, dc in same place with ch-3, * 2 dc in each of next 6 sts, dc each of next 7 sts *, 2 dc in next st; rep between *’s once, join as before (7 dc inc each end – 42 dc).
Rnd 3: Ch 3, 2 dc in next st, [1 dc in next st, 2 dc in next st] 6 times, 1 dc in each of next 7 sts, [1 dc in next st, 2 dc in next st] 7 times, 1 dc in each of next 7 sts, join (56 dc).
Rnd 4: Ch 3, 1 dc in next st, 2 dc in next st, [1 dc in each of next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st] 6 times, 1 dc in each of next 7 sts, [1 dc in each of next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st] 7 times, 1 dc in each of next 7 sts, join (70 dc)
Rnd 5: Ch 3, 1 dc in next 2 st, 2 dc in next st, [1 dc in each of next 3 sts, 2 dc in next st] 6 times, 1 dc in each of next 7 sts, [1 dc in each of next 3 sts, 2 dc in next st] 7 times, 1 dc in each of next 7 sts, join (84 dc)
Fasten off





Flower: Same as for Poncho.





Finishing: Fold oval piece at center with foundation chain in vertical position and wrong sides tog. Join yarn at fold. Through double thickness work sc in each of 7 sc, sc in each of 28 sts for 1 side of opening, through double thickness sc in each of last 7 sc, ch 16 for loop, join with sl st to last sc worked. Ch 1, sl st in each ch. Fasten off. Join yarn and working from wrong side sc in each of 28 sts on other side of opening. Sew on flower as shown. Tack and sew zipper in opening below sc row, so that it does not show.
