Bluebells Baby Set

Materials:
baby or sport weight yarn – sweater, 4 ounces; cap, 1 ounce; blanket, 7 ounces
one pair size 6 knitting needles
crochet hook size 1

Check your Gauge! 11 sts. to 2 inches, 15 rows to 2 inches

Pattern StitchMultiple of 8 sts. plus 7
Row 1
-Right Side: K 7, * P 1, K 7, repeat from * across.
Row 2 and All Even Rows: K the K sts
and P the P sts as they face you.
Row 3: * P 1, K 5, P 1, K 1, repeat from * across, end P 1, K 5, P 1.
Row 5: K 1, P 1, * K 3, P 1, repeat from * across, end K 1.
Row 7: K 2, P 1, K 1, P 1, * K 5, P 1, K 1, P 1, repeat from * across, end K 2.
Row 9: K 3, * P 1, K 7, repeat from * across, end P 1, K 3.
Row 11: Repeat Row 7.
Row 13: Repeat Row 5.
Row 15: Repeat Row 3.
Row 16: Repeat Row 2.
Repeat these 16 rows for pat.

JACKET
Back: Cast on 55. K 5 rows in garter st for border. Work in pat to 7 1/2 inches from start, end on wrong side. Width across back is 10 inches.

Armholes: Bind off 3 at beg of next 2 rows. Dec 1 each side every other row twice. Work on the 45 sts to 4 inches straight above underarm, end on wrong side. Width across shoulders is 8 1/4 inches.

Shoulders: Bind off 14 at beg of next 2 rows. Sl the 17 sts to a holder.

Left Front: Cast on 35. K 4 rows. Next row K 4 for front border, place marker on needle, K to end.
Sl marker every row.
Row 1: Work in pat to marker, sl marker, K 4.
Row 2: K 4, work Row 2 of pat to end. Keeping 4 garter sts at front edge, continue in pat to underarm, end on wrong side. Width across front is 6 1/2 inches.

Armhole: Bind off 3 at side edge. Dec 1 at same edge every other row twice. Work on the 30 sts to 3 inches straight above underarm.

Neck and Shoulder: Work 13 at front edge and sl them to a holder, work to end. Dec 1 at front edge every other row 3 times and when armhole matches back armhole, bind off 14 sts.

Right Front: Cast on 35. K 4 rows. Next row K to last 4, place marker on needle for front border, K 4.
Row 1: K 4, work in pat to end. Finish to correspond to left front.





Sleeves: Cast on 34. K 4 rows. Next row K, inc 7 across. Work on the 41 sts as follows: Keeping 1 st each side in garter st, work in pat on the center 39 sts to 7 1/2 inches from start, end on wrong side.

Sleeve Cap: Bind off 3 at beg of next 2 rows. Dec 1 each side every other row 6 times. Bind off 3 at beg of next 4 rows. Bind off 11 sts.

Neckband: Seam shoulders. Starting at right front on right side, pick up and K 65 around neck, including holders. K 2 rows.

Beading: * K 2, yo, K 2 tog, repeat from * across, end K 1. K 2 rows. Bind off.

Sew sleeves in place then seam underarms and sleeves. Starting at left neck edge on right side, crochet 1 row of sc on fronts and lower edge.

CAP
Starting at front edge cast on 65. K 5 rows in garter st for border. Keeping 1 garter st each side, work in pat on the center 63 sts to about 5 1/2 inches from start, end with Row 1. K 1 row, dec’ing 2 across. K on the 63 sts for 4 rows.
First Dec Row: * K 2 tog, K 7, repeat from * across — 7 decs. P 56.
Second Dec Row: * K 2 tog, K 6, repeat from * across. P 49. Continue to dec 7 every other row, having 1 st less between dec’s on each dec row until 14 rem. Break yarn leaving 12-inch end. Thread into blunt-end needle and draw sts tog then seam back.





Neckband: Starting at front on right side, pick up and K 65 around neck. K 3 rows. Work beading same as on jacket. K 2 rows. Bind off.





BLANKET
Approximate Size 27 x 31 inches
Cast on 151. K 4 rows. Next row K 4, place marker on needle, K to last 4, place 2nd marker on needle, K 4.
Row 1: K 4 garter sts for border, sl marker, work in pat on the center 143 sts, sl marker, K to end. Keeping 4 garter sts each side, continue to work in pat on the sts between markers to about 30 1/2 inches from start, end with Row 2. K 6 rows. Bind off. On right side, crochet 1 row of sc around blanket, increasing at corners.
