Knit Snuggle Bunny Baby Bunting





Directions are for Infant’s Size.

Note – this pattern calls for “inserting zipper” without saying what size or how? If I were making this pattern, I would opt for stitching the front together about a third of the way up, then using a velcro closure. You could also substitute snaps.

Materials –
14 ounces 4 ply knitting worsted weight yarn
Knitting Needles: One pair each Sizes 6, 8 and 10
one cable needle
one crochet hook Size G

Check your Gauge! Pattern on Size 10-
5 sts to 1 inch; 6 rows to 1 inch

NOTE: To “p 1 and K 1” or “K 1 and P 1” for 5 or 7 sts in instruction is to say that the 5 or 7 sts are in ribbing.

Back: With size 8 needles cast on 81.

Row 1 -Wrong side: K 2, P 1 and K 1 for 7 sts, K 2, P 8, * K 2, P 1 and K 1 for 5 sts, K 2, P 8, repeat from * across, end K 2, P 1 and K 1 for 7 sts, K 2.

Row 2: K the K sts and P the P sts as they face you.

Rows 3 and 4: Repeat Rows 1 and 2.





Row 5: Repeat Row 1.





Row 6: P 2, K 1 and P 1 for 7 sts,
P 2, sl next 4 to cable needle and hold in back, K next ‘4 then K the 4 from cable needle for a cable twist, * P 2, K 1 and P 1 for 5 sts, P 2, twist cable, repeat from * across, end P 2, K 1 and P 1 for 7 sts, P 2.

Row 7: Eyelets: K 2, P 1 and K 1 for 7 sts, yo, K 2 tog, P 8, *K 2 tog, yo, P 1 and K 1 for 5 sts, yo, K 2 tog, P 8, repeat from * across, end K 2 tog, yo, P 1 and K 1 for 7 sts, K 2.

Row 8: Repeat Row 2.

Rows 9 and 10: Repeat Rows 1 and 2.

Omitting eyelets, repeat these 10 rows for pat, end with 4th cable twist row.

Next row repeat eyelets.

Change to size 10 needles

Omitting eyelets, work to about 21 inches from start, end on wrong side with Row 1 of pat.

First Dec. Row: P 1, K 2 tog, P 1, * sl 1, K 1, psso, P next K st, K 2 tog, P 2, K 8, P 2 *, repeat from * to *once, K 1 and P 1 for 5 sts, P 2, K 8, P 2, repeat from * to * once, sl 1, K 1, psso, P 1, K 2 tog, P 1, sl 1, K 1, psso, P 1 –10 decs.

Work 1 row on the 71 sts.

2nd Dec Row: P 2 tog then work to last 2, P 2 tog.

Work 1 row on 69 sts.

3rd Dec Row: P 2, * sl 1, K 2 tog, psso, P 2, twist cable, P 2 *, repeat from * to * once, K 1 and P 1 for 5 sts, P 2, twist cable, P 2, repeat from * to *once, sl 1, K 2 tog, psso, P 2 – 8 decs.

Change to Size 8 needles and work in pat on the 61 sts for 1 row.

Raglan Armholes: Bind off 4 at beg of next 2 rows.

Dec 1 each side every other row 10 times then every row 6 times, end on wrong side.

Bind off 1 at beg of next 2 rows.

Sl the 19 sts to a holder for neck.

Front: Work same as back to 14 inches from start, end on right side.

Opening: Work 41 and sl them to a holder, work to end.

Cast on 1 at end of next row – 41 sts.

Next row P 1, K 1, P 1 then work to end.

Work to same length as back to First Dec Row, end on wrong side with Row 1 of pat.

First Dec Row: P 1, K 2 tog, P 1, repeat from * to * of First Dec Row of back twice, K 1, P 1, K 1.

Work 1 row on the 36 sts.

2nd Dec Row: P 2 tog, work to end.

Work 1 row on the 35 sts.

3rd Dec Row: P 2, repeat from * to * of 3rd Dec Row of back twice, K 1, P 1, K 1.

Change to Size 8 needles and work 1 row on the 31 sts.

Raglan Armhole: Bind off 4 at side edge. Dec 1 at same edge every other row until 18 rem.

Neck: Work 8 at front edge and sl them to a holder, work to end.

Dec 1 at neck every row 3 times
AND AT THE SAME TIME continue to dec at raglan every other row twice, every row 4 times more. Fasten off.

Starting at center, work other side.

Sleeves: With Size 6 needles cast on 30.

K 1 and P 1 in ribbing for 2 inches, inc 12 across last row.

Change to Size 10 needles.

Work in pat on the 42 sts:

Row 1-Wrong side: K 1 and P 1 for 17 sts, P 8, K 1 and P 1 for 17 sts.

Row 2: K the K sts and P the P sts as they face you.

Rows 3, 4 and 5: Repeat Rows 1,2 and 1.

Row 6: Same as Row 2, twisting cables on center 8 sts.

Rows 7 through 10: Repeat Rows 1 through 4.

Working added sts in ribbing, inc 1 each side on next row then every inch 3 times more.

Work on the 50 sts to 8 inches from start
end on wrong side.

Raglan Sleeve Cap:

Bind off 4 at beg of next 2 rows.

Dec 1 each side every other row 10 times then every row 6 times, end on wrong side.

Bind off 1 at beg of next 2 rows.

Sl the 8 sts to a holder.

Sew raglan sleeves to back and fronts.

Neckband:

With Size 6 needles starting at right front edge, work first 3 sts in ribbing, K the 5 from holder, pick up and K 9 along side, K 8 sleeve sts, 19 neck sts, 8 sts of other sleeve, pick up and K 9 on other side, from holder K 5, work 3 in ribbing.

P 1 and K 1 in ribbing on the 69 sts.

Work 6 more rows.

Bind off loosely. Fold and sew to wrong side.

Sew sleeve and side seams.

On right side crochet 1 row of sl st along opening.

Insert zipper.

Thread matching ribbon through either row of eyelets.

Cap

Starting at back of neck with Size 8 needles cast on 18.

Row 1-Wrong side: K 1 and P 1 for 5 sts, P 8, K 1 and P 1 for 5 sts.

Row 2: K the K sts and P the P sts as they face you.

Continue in pat, twisting cable on 8 center sts on 6th row then every 10th row, working until 21 rows have been completed.

Break off yarn.

Starting at neck on right side, pick up and K 21, work across center 18, pick up and K 21 on other side.

Work on the 60 sts:

Row 1: K 1 and P 1 for 11 sts, P 8, K 1, P 1, work across 18 center sts, P 1, K 1, P 8, K 1 and P 1 for 11 sts.

Continue in pat, twist cable in each K-8 stripe on 4th row then every 10th row for 4 inches, end on wrong side.

Change to Size 6 needles.

Next row P 1 and K 1 in ribbing, dec’ing 1 in center of each cable rib.

Continue in established ribbing on the 57 sts for 1 and 1/2 inches.

Bind off loosely.

Fold 1 inch of ribbing back on right side and tack at each side.

Neckband:

Starting at front edge on right side with Size 6 needles, pick u. and K 59 on lower edge.

P 1 and K 1 in ribbing for 3 rows.

Eyelets: Work 2, yo, P 2 tog. * work 4, . yo, P 2 tog, repeat from * across,
end K 1.

Work 3 more rows in ribbing.

Bind off.

Trim with ribbon
