Crochet Granny Squares – Pillowcovers – Contrasting Triangles









SIZE: About 13 1/2″ square.

MATERIALS:
Sport yarn, 6 ozs. main color (MC) and 6 ozs. contrasting color (CC).
Crochet hook size D.
Covered pillow form.

TRIANGLES: Make 4 with MC and 4 with CC.
Ch 6, join with sl st to form ring.
Row 1: Ch 5, 3 dc in ring, ch 1, tr in ring; turn.
Row 2: Ch 5, 3 dc in ch-sp of previous row, ch 2, sk 3 dc, work (3 dc, ch 1, tr) in turning ch.
Row 3: Ch 5, 3 dc in ch-sp, ch 2, sk 3 dc, 3 dc in ch-sp, ch 2, sk 3 dc, work (3 dc, ch 1, tr) in turning ch. Row 4: Ch 5, 3 dc in ch-sp, ch 2, sk 3 dc * 3 dc in ch-sp, ch 2, sk 3 dc, repeat from *, end (3 dc, ch 1, tr) in turning ch.
Repeat Row 4 until 17 rows in all have been worked.





Edging: Sc around triangle, working 3 sc in each row along one side, 5 sc at starting point, 3 sc in each row
along other side, 1 sc in each dc and 2 sc in each ch-sp along straight side. Fasten off.

JOINING: Right sides together, join (alternating MC and CC triangles as shown) along diagonal edges with sl sts through front loops on both pieces. Join front to back around 3 sides in same manner; turn right side out, insert pillow and sew the opening closed.

BUTTONS: Make two.
With MC, ch 5; join with sl st to form a ring.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in ring.
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc—12 sc.
Rnd 3: * Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, repeat from * around—18 sc.
Rnds 4 and 5: Sc in each sc.
Rnd 6: Sc in every other sc—9 sc. Fasten off.
Turn wrong side out, insert button and sew closed.
Sew buttons, one on each side, in center through pillow, pulling together tightly.
