Knit Infant’s Embroidered Afghan With Bird Border

MATERIAL





Worsted Weight Yarn
6 ounces White (122 yards per ounce)
Small amount of color for embroidery
Knitting needles, 14 inch, size 4

INSTRUCTIONS

Cast on 30 stitches, knit plain until work measures 32 inches, bind off, work another stripe to correspond. Embroider these stripes in Blue Bird design.
Now work the centre stripe as follows:
Cast on 94 stitches.
Row 1 — Knit plain.
Row 2 — Knit plain.
Row 3 —* Knit 4, yarn over hook, knit 2 together, knit 1, yarn over, knit 2 together, repeat from *, ending with knit 4.
Row 4 — Slip 1, purl 4, * knit 1, purl 2, knit 1, purl 5, repeat from *, ending with purl 4.

Repeat these 4 rows until work measures 32 inches.
Sew neatly together and finish with a row of slip stitches all around.
