Materials: SCOTCH FINGERING YARN, 3 Ply (1 oz. skeins): 8 skeins for Sizes 4 and 6; 10 skeins for Size 8 . . . Knitting Pins, 1 pair No. 2 (2 3/4 mm. size) and 1 pair No. 4 (3 1/2 mm. size).

GAUGE: 6 sts make 1 inch; 8 rows make 1 inch.

BACK . .. Starting at lower edge of skirt with No. 4 needles, cast on

Knit 1 row (wrong side). Work in stockinette st (k 1 row, p 1 row alternately), decreasing 6 sts evenly across every
6th row 7th row 8th row
until there remain
66 sts 72 sts 78 sts
Work without decreasing until piece measures in all

decreasing on last row to

Change to No. 2 needles and work in ribbing
of k 2, p 2 for 1 inch, increasing evenly across last row to

To Shape Armholes: Bind off 4 sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows. Dec 1 st at both ends of each k row until there remain

Turn and work over the last set of sts only, decreasing 1 st at armhole edge each row 3 times.
Keeping armhole edge straight, dec 1 st at center front edge on next row and every 6th row thereafter until there remain

Work 5 rows without decreasing.
Next row: Dec 1 st at center front edge and inc 1 st at armhole edge.
Repeat the last 6 rows 6 more times.

POCKET (Make 2) … Starting at upper edge, cast on

Knit 1 row (wrong side).
Work in stockinette st for 3 inches. Dec 1 st at both ends of each row until 3 sts remain, k 3 tog. Break off.

Block pieces to measurements. Sew side and shoulder seams. Sew pockets 1 inch below waistband and 1/2 inch from side seams. Face armhole and neck edges. Trim pockets if desired.
