Knit Man’s Long Sleeve Pullover





Materials: SOCK AND SWEATER YARN, SHRINK-RESIST FINISH, 3 Ply (1 oz. skeins): 10 skeins for Size 38; 11 skeins for Size 40; 12 skeins for Size 42; 13 skeins for Size 44 . . . Knitting Pins, 1 pair No. 1 (2 1/2 mm. size) and 1 pair No. 3 (3 mm. size) . . . Double-pointed Bone Sock Needles No. 1 (2 1/2 mm. size).

GAUGE: 8 sts make 1 inch; 10 rows make 1 inch.

BACK . . . Starting at lower edge with No. 3 needles, cast on

Change to No. 1 needles and work in ribbing of k 2, p 2 for 4 inches.
Change to No. 3 needles.
1st row: Knit across (right side of work).
2nd row: P 3, * k 2, p 6. Repeat from * across, ending with k 2, p 3.
The last 2 rows constitute pattern. Work in pattern until piece measures in all
14 1/2″ 15″ 15″ 15 1/2″









To Shape Armholes: Keeping continuity of pattern throughout all shaping, bind off 8 sts at the beginning of next 2 rows. Dec 1 st at end of each row until there remain

Attach yarn where sts were divided and work other side to correspond. Sew shoulder seams.

SLEEVES . . . Starting at cuff with No. 3 needles, cast on

Change to No. 1 needles and work in ribbing of k 2, p 2 for 4 inches.
Change to No. 3 needles and work in pattern as for Back, increasing 1 st at both ends of every 7th row until there are on needle

To Shape Top: Bind off 2 sts at the begin-ning of each row until 32 sts remain. Bind off.

NECKBAND . . . Starting at center back of neck with double-pointed needles and right side facing, pick up and knit around to V

Divide these sts on 2 needles, place a marker; with a 3rd needle pick up and knit to center back of neck

Divide these sts onto 2 needles. There are on needles

1st rnd: Work in ribbing of k 2, p 2 to marker, slip marker, * p 2, k 2. Repeat from * to end of rnd, ending with p 2.
2nd rnd: K 2, p 2 alternately to 2 sts from marker, p 2 tog, slip marker, p 2 tog, work in ribbing to end of rnd. Repeat the last rnd, decreasing 1 st before and after marker on each rnd (p 2 tog or k 2 tog, whatever the case may be) until band measures 1 inch. Bind off loosely in ribbing.

Block pieces to measurements. Sew side and sleeve seams. Sew in sleeves.
