Mittens Knit On Two Needles – Speed Knit This Pair!

Sizes 8 to 10, 10 to 12, 12 to 14 years
MATERIALS
Knitting Worsted Weight Yarn, 4 oz
1 pair knitting needles No. 10
RIGHT MITTEN: With double strands of yam cast on 21 sts (size
10 to 12, 21 sts, size 12 to 14, 23 sts). Work in ribbing of K1, P1, for 3
inches.
K1 row, P1 row, for 4 rows, then start thumb gusset as follows:
K9 (size 10 to 12, K9 -size 12 to 14, K10); increase 1 st in next st, K1, increase 1 st in next st, K9 (size 10 to 12, K9 -12 to 14, K10).
P1 row.
On the next row, increase as follows: K9 (size 10 to 12, K9 -size 12 to 14, K10); increase 1 st in next st, K3, increase 1 st in next st, K9 (size 10 to 12, K9 -12 to 14, K10).
P1 row.
Continue increasing in the above manner, having 2 sts more between increases in thumb gusset every other row until there are 5 sts between increases (size 10 to 12, 5 sts – 12 to 14, 7 sts).
P1 row after last increased row, then separate thumb from remainder of mitten as follows:
K10 (size 10 to 12, K10 -12 to 14, K11); place on st holder. K7 (size 10 to 12, K7 – 12 to 14, K9). Place remaining sts on 2nd st holder. Work back and forth in st st on the thumb sts for 5 rows (size 10 to 12, 6 rows -12 to 14, 7rows), then decrease as follows:
Row 1 :K1,*K2 tog, K1; repeat from * across row (size 10 to 12, P1, *P2 tog, P1; repeat from * across row -size 12 to 14, * K1, K2 tog; repeat from * across row).
Row 2: P1, P2 tog twice (size 10 to 12, K1; K2 tog twice – 12 to 14, P2 tog 3 times). Draw remaining sts tog and fasten off. Sew thumb seam.
Place sts from first st holder onto needle. Attach yam and pick up 1
st at base of thumb (size 10 to 12, 2 sts – 12 to 14, 2 sts); place
remaining sts from 2nd st holder onto left hand needle and K them.
Work even in st st until piece measures 3 inches from base of thumb
(size 10 to 12, 3 1/4 inches – size 12 to 14, 3 1/2 inches).
Decrease as follows:
Row 1: (right side) * K1, K2 tog; repeat from * across row
(size 10 to 12, end with K1).
Row 2: Purl.
Row 3: K2 tog, * K1, K2 tog; repeat from * across row (size 10 to 12, end with K1).
Row 4: Purl.
Row 5: K1; K2 tog across row (size 10 to 12, K2 tog across row).
Draw remaining sts tog and fasten off. Sew side seams.
LEFT MITTEN: Work to correspond to right mitten.

I made them and they came out great!! i’ve never made mittens before that came out so well.
I’m impressed by people who can knit mittens and socks. I know you knit much more difficult items so thanks for remembering some of the rest of us.
