Vintage Crochet for Barbie – Barbie Pantsuit – free pattern
Barbie Pantsuit – (outfit top left)
SIZE: Fits 11-1/2″ fashion doll.
MATERIALS:
Mercerized knitting and crochet cotton, dark green, main color (MC) for pants and jacket, light green, contrasting color (CC), for jacket; small amounts of yellow (A), variegated cotton (B), rose (C), and white (D) for shell.
Steel crochet hook No. 6.
Snap fastener.
Two small beads.
GAUGE: 9 dc = 1″ (pants). One motif = 1″ square (jacket). Shell motif = 2-1/2″ square.
PANTS: With MC, beg at top edge, ch 34.
Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook (counts as 2 dc), dc in each remaining ch-32 dc. Ch 3, turn.
Row 2: Dc in first dc (an inc), * dc in each of next 5 dc, 2 dc in next dc, repeat from * across, dc in top of ch 3–38 dc. Ch 3, turn.
Row 3: Dc in first dc (an inc), * dc in each of next 6 dc, 2 dc in next dc, repeat from * across, dc in last dc, dc in top of ch 3–44 dc. Ch 3, turn.
Row 4: Dc in first dc (an inc), * dc in each of next 8 dc, 2 dc in next dc, repeat from * 3 times, dc in each of last 6 dc, 2 dc in top of ch 3–50 dc. Ch 3, turn.
Row 5: Dc in first dc, dc in each dc across, 2 dc in top of ch 3–52 dc. Ch 3, turn.
Divide for Legs:
Row 6: Dc in first dc, dc in each of next 25 dc. Ch 3, turn.
Row 7: Sk first dc, dc in each of next 10 dc, ch 1, sk 2 dc, 3 dc in next dc, ch 1, sk 2 dc, dc in each of next 10 dc, dc in top of turning ch. Ch 3, turn.
Row 8: Sk first dc, dc in each of next 10 dc, ch 1, 3 dc in center of 3-dc group, ch 1, dc in each of next 10 dc, dc in top of turning ch. Ch 3, turn.
Row 9: Repeat row 8.
Row 10: Dc in first dc, dc in each of next 4 dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in each of next 5 dc, ch 1, 3 dc in center dc of 3-dc group, ch 1, dc in each of next 5 dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in each of next 4 dc, 2 dc in top of turning ch. Ch 3, turn.
Rows 11-21: Work even in pat on 13 dc, shell, 13 dc.
Row 22: Work dc in each dc and ch 1 across–31 dc. End off.
Attach MC at crotch, work other leg the same.
FINISHING: Work 3 rows of sc across top edge for waistband. Sew leg seams and back seam for 1 row above crotch. Work 2 rows of sc around back opening. Close top with snap fastener.
JACKET: MOTIF (make 22): With CC, ch 4.
Rnd 1: 2 dc in 4th ch from hook, * ch 2, 3 dc in same ch, repeat from * twice, ch 2, sl st in top of first ch. End off.
Rnd 2: Join MC in any ch-2 sp, ch 3, 2 dc in same sp, ch 2, 3 dc in same sp, * 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in next ch-2 sp, repeat from * twice, sl st in top of ch 3. End off.
FINISHING: Sew 3 motifs tog in a row for each front. Sew 6 motifs tog, 3 motifs wide by 2 motifs high, for back to armholes; sew back to fronts along underarm seams. Sew 2 motifs tog for top of back. Centering seam between these 2 motifs on back, sew to top edge of back, leaving 1/2 motif free each side for armholes. Sew shoulder seams leaving 1/2 of each front motif free at center for neck edge. Sew 4 motifs tog in a square for each sleeve. Fit one edge of square into armhole; sew in place; sew sleeve seam. With MC, work 1 row sc all around jacket.
SHELL: BACK: With A, ch 4.
Rnd 1: 2 dc in 4th ch from hook, * ch 1, 3 dc in same ch, repeat from * twice, ch 1, sl st in top of first ch. End off.
Rnd 2: Join B in any ch-1 sp, ch 3, 2 dc in same sp, ch 1, 3 dc in same sp, 8 (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in next ch-1 sp, repeat from * twice, sl st in top of ch 3. End off.
Rnd 3: Join C in any ch-1 sp, ch 3, 2 dc in same sp, ch 1, 3 dc in same sp, * 3 dc in sp between shells, (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in next ch-1 sp, repeat from * twice, 3 dc in sp between shells, sl st in top of ch 3. End off.
Rnd 4: Join D in any ch-1 sp, ch 3, 2 dc in same sp, ch 1, 3 dc in same sp, * 3 dc in each of next 2 sps, (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in next ch-1 sp, repeat from * twice, 3 dc in each of last 2 sps, sl st in top of ch 3. Sl st to ch-1 sp.
Rnd 5: Work as for rnd 4, having 3 groups of 3 dc between corners.
Rnd 6: Work sc in each dc around, 3 sc in each corner. End off.
SHELL: FRONT: Work as for back through rnd 5.
Rnd 6: Work sc in each dc to corner, 3 sc in corner, ch 5 for buttonloop, sc in each dc to next corner, ch 5 for buttonloop, 3 sc in corner, finish rnd as for rnd 6 of back.
FINISHING: Sew back and front tog, beg 1/2″ up from bottom edge and sewing for 1″. Sew beads to top edge of back opposite buttonloops.
Vintage Knits for Barbie – A Mohair Jacket
Materials
Deluxe Mohair, about 1/2 oz. beige (B)
small amount white (W) for collar.
Knitting needles No. 1
Or English size 12)
Three small snaps.
Five white seed beads
GAUGE: 6 sts. = 1″; 9 rows = 1″
BODY: Beg at lower edge with B, cast on 40 sts.
Ribbing – Rows 1 and 3 (right side): k 2 for front band, then work in ribbing of p 1, k 1 to last 2 sts, k 2 for front band
Rows 2 and 4 : k 2, work in ribbing of k 1, p 1 to to last 2 sts, k2
Keeping garter st bands at each end, work in stockinette st (k 1 row, p 1 row) until piece is 2 ¼ “ from bottom, end right side. Turn
DIVIDE WORK: K 2, p 7 (left front), bind off next 4 sts (underarm), p 14 sts (back), bind off next 4 sts (underarm), p 7; last 2 sts, k 2 (right front). Turn.
RIGHT FRONT ARMHOLE OPENING: Work back and forth on first 9 sts for 1″ same as body of sweater, leaving other stitches on needle, end at front edge
SHAPE NECK: NEXT ROW: Bind off 4 sts at beg of front edge, finish row.
Work 2 rows even on 5 sts.
Bind off.
BACK ARMHOLE OPENINGS: From right side, join B in first st of back. Work in stockinette st on 14 sts until armholes measure same as right front. Bind off.
LEFT FRONT ARMHOLE OPENING: From right side, join yarn at armhole of left front, work as for right front.
SLEEVES: Work both sleeves at once with separate balls of B yarn cast on 10 sts for each sleeve.
Work in ribbing of k 1, p 1 for 4 rows, inc 3 sts evenly spaced across last row of each. Work in stockinette st until 3″ from bottom. Bind off.
FINISHING: Weave shoulder seams. Weave sleeve seams. Weave in sleeves with seams at center of underarm sts. Steam-press lightly.
COLLAR: From wrong side with W, pick up 26 sts across neck edge. (K 1 row1 P 1 row) for 10 rows.
K 2 rows (garter st). Bind off loosely in k. Turn collar down to right side of jacket; tack points of collar to fronts ½ “ from each front edge. Close fronts with three snaps. Sew 5 seed beads evenly spaced on right front band.
